Stuffed Pasta Shells Recipe: Classic Italian Baked Conchiglioni

What I love about this dish is that there are so many variations to try! I added ground sausage however, you can leave that out and go with straight cheese or maybe add in some spinach. The possibilities are endless!

Ingredients

  • 24

    jumbo pasta shells cooked according to manufacturers instructions.

  • 15

    ounces ricotta cheese

  • 3 1/2

    cups, mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided in two

  • 2 1/2

    teaspoons Italian seasoning

  • 1

    pound ground pork, sausage, cooked

  • 1/2

    cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • One egg

  • About 3 cups or one jar of marinara sauce

STEP 1: Preheat and Prep the Pan

Preheat oven to 375°F. Coat a 9 x 13“ pan with butter or oil.

STEP 2: Brown the Sausage

In a large skillet, brown pork sausage and set aside.

STEP 3: Cook the Pasta Shells

Cook pasta shells according to manufacturers instructions.

STEP 4: Layer the Sauce

Spread half the marinara sauce on the bottom of the pan.

STEP 5: Make the Ricotta Filling

Place the ricotta cheese, half the mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese, and sausage in a bowl. Stir to combine.

STEP 6: Fill and Arrange the Shells

Fill each pasta shell with ricotta cheese mixture and place in baking dish.

STEP 7: Add More Sauce and Cheese

Spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the shells and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

STEP 8: Bake the Shells

Cover and bake for about 20 minutes. Uncover and bacon. Additional 10 minutes or until all the cheese is golden brown on top.
